I also had the game freeze on me 3 times while doing my 2 playthroughs on Hard and Normal. You get used to them and after hours of playing you will notice them less and less. The game has initial slow downs and "lag" issues. For better or worse the combat system has been made more into button timing and skill setup. If you have played the previous 2 games, Record of Agarest War and Record of Agarest War Zero you will notice that the battle system is no longer Turn Based Strategy like Final Fantasy Tactics but more like Cross Edge.
